Pronouns: He/Him/His

Bill is Haida, Raven from the Yahgulanaas clan of Dadens, Haida Gwaii.

Bill is a qualified Ontario teacher.  He has been the Indigenous Education System Support Teacher for the Upper Canada District School Board for over ten years, and has been sharing his culture with others for over twenty.

Bill was a member of the Artifact Selection Committee for the Haida House in the Grand Hall at the Museum of History, Ottawa.  In 2014, Bill was part of the Haida delegation that repatriated ancestral remains from the National Museum of the American Indian, New York City.

In 2021, Bill received the Indspire’s Guiding the Light Award for Leadership in Indigenous Education.  Recently, a friend had asked him to recommend a book pertaining to leadership. Bill forewarned that his recommendation might not be what he was looking for. “We may have differing opinions of what leadership might be.” Understanding oneself, and how you may contribute to the relationships that surround you could prove both humbling and productive. Bill relishes seeking new ways in being productive, “There are no problems, only challenges.”

Bill’s gifts include skills in relationship building, workshop design, facilitation and presenting, storytelling as pedagogy, sharing Haida culture, history and traditions, and nurturing pride through Identity. Bill has presented and facilitated workshops at the local, provincial and national level, and in school boards across Ontario.
